Kunsthaus Zurich Extension
Zurich
From housing to schools, from museums to infrastructure: exposed concrete is also part of Marti's DNA. Discover with #ExposedConcrete a selection of our projects where technical precision meets architectural ambition.
The new building’s compact form has reduced the amount of materials used and thus minimised its grey energy footprint. In addition, exposed concrete made from 90 % recycled material, cement and low carbon-cement was selected to increase sustainability. Thanks to precise labour, the frame imprints from the wall formwork produce a regular pattern that is showcased to full effect in the 20-metre-high, 90-metre-long entrance hall. The extension also features an underground passageway connecting the construction to the main building.
