mudac & Photo Élysée
Lausanne
From housing to schools, from museums to infrastructure: exposed concrete is also part of Marti’s DNA. Discover with #ExposedConcrete a selection of our projects where technical precision meets architectural ambition.
At the heart of Plateforme 10 in Lausanne, the mudac and Photo Élysée rise as a white concrete cube, 42 metres on each side, defying gravity. The suspended mezzanine, a feat of engineering, rests on three invisible columns: a faceted slab of 1,600 square metres weighing 1,000 tonnes that appears to float. The white concrete facade walls, each cast on site in a single pour (around 170 cubic metres), are suspended at 15 metres with built-in prestress. Inside, two staircases in white fibre-reinforced concrete and zenithal light bathing 1,580 square metres of exhibition space complete a building that is itself a work of art.
